LECTIO - Read Scripture Text: 2 Peter 1:16-19
We have not followed cunningly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we have been eyewitnesses of this majesty. For he received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the majestic glory, “This is my Son, my beloved, with whom I am well pleased.”
We ourselves heard this voice came from heaven while we with him on the holy mount. Moreover, we possess the word of prophecy that is altogether reliable. You will do well to take heed to it as to a lamp shining in a dark place until day dawns and the day star rises in your hearts.
MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:
Do I believe in the teaching from Scripture about Christ? Do I allow the words to guide me like a lamp guides me through the dark?
BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:
In Peter’s 2nd Letter, he writes to us of his eyewitness experience with Christ on the mount when he beheld Christ transfigured and heard the Father Almighty proclaim, “This is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased.”
ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:
LORD, Jesus Christ, Son of God, send the Spirit to guide me with the Scriptures so that I more deeply comprehend the truths it reveals concerning You and so that I might firmly grasp the importance of the truths in my life day to day. May the Spirit illuminate my mind and make clear my way as I journey in faith through You. Amen.
CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
