Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: July 11,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   Matthew 10:24-33

(Jesus said to his Apostles,) “No disciple is above his master nor a servant above his lord. It is not enough for the disciple that he be like his master and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call those of his household the same. Do not fear them therefore for there is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, no secret that will not be known. What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light; what you hear whispered, proclaim from the housetops. And do not fear those who can kill the body but are not able to kill the soul. Rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

“Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? Not a one of them falls to the ground without your Father knowing. But the very hairs on your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore, for you are worth more than any sparrows.

“Whoever shall confess me before men, him will I confess before my Father in heaven. And whoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father in heaven.”

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

Do I live boldly as Christ’s disciple? Do I proclaim the good news through word and action? Do I confess Jesus as Savior and Lord?

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

In today’s gospel reading, we hear Jesus’ words preparing his disciples for future persecution, sharing in his suffering as his disciples. But Jesus also commands his disciples to be bold in their proclamation of the truth, in bringing the gospel to the world without fear, trusting in divine providence and the love of the Father. Finally, Jesus stresses the centrality of confessing Him before others.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior, I acknowledge You and my love for You. Send your Spirit to guide me and strengthen me to live as your disciple. Grant that I may trust in the Father’s knowledge of and love for me and live my discipleship fully without fear. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
