Date: Thursday of the 15th Week in Ordinary Time
Scripture Text: Matthew 11:28-30
Jesus said:
"Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light."
Breaking the text open – background and summary:
Today’s short gospel reading recounts Jesus’ invitation to all, especially those world weary, to “Come to me…and I will give you rest.” Jesus invites us to take His yoke upon ourselves, allowing Him to lead us which He will do with loving gentleness and humility.
Meditating on the text with personal questions:
Am I willing to tether myself to Christ to gain the peace that only He can give me?
Praying:
LORD, Jesus Christ, Son of God, my savior, send your Spirit to give me the courage I need to tether myself You, to allow You and You alone to guide me. Open my mind and heart that I may take in your loving teachings and examples. Grant that I may be your disciple at all times and in all places. Amen.
