Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: July 2,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   Psalm 19: 8-11

The statutes of the LORD are just, making the heart glad;

The decree of the LORD is pure, illuminating the mind.

The fear of the LORD is virtuous, enduring forever;

The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether;

To be desired more than gold, more than fine gold;

Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

By them your servant is warned;

In keeping them, there is great reward.

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

Do I recognize the LORD’s Word as a spiritual treasure rather than a burden?

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

Today’s responsorial psalm reminds us of the perfection of the LORD’s Word, the LORD’s law and celebrates it not as a burden but rather as the source of enlightenment and joy, as a moral compass for us on our journey.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come to You with hearts full of gratitude. We thank You for the covenant of love and justice given to us as your law for our lives. Through them we are given wisdom and uncertainty is vanquished. Because of them, we know we are called to uphold human dignity, protect the vulnerable, and live in harmony with one another.

Lord Jesus, our Savior and Teacher, thank You for teaching us the two greatest commandments, which call us to love God above all and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Grant that we may humbly uphold these laws with integrity and compassion.

Most Holy Spirit, grace our hearts with cooperation to live in obedience to Your laws and make of us seekers of justice and instruments of mercy.  Grant that we act always out of love rather than out of fear.  Amen.
