Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: July 28,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   Matthew 13:36-43

Jesus sent the crowds away and entered the house. His disciples came to Him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.”

In response, He said, “The one sowing the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world. The good seed are the children of the Kingdom. The weeds are the children of the evil one and the enemy that sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. Just as weeds are collected and burned in the fire, so will it be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will collect out of his Kingdom all who cause others to sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the fiery furnace where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the Kingdom of the Father. Whoever has ears ought to hear.”

In today’s gospel reading, Jesus explains to the disciples the meaning of the parable of the weeds among the wheat, emphasizing the existence of good and evil in our world and within us.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

LORD, I look to You, the source of my being, my Creator, my Savior, my Sanctifier. Stir within me this day and all days your formative love so I might more perfectly live as You created me to live. Grant that I may daily grow in my goodness, a reflection of your loving will for me. Help me to withstand and overcome the evil that exists in the world around me. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
