Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: July 4,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   Psalm 85:9-14

Truly, His salvation is near to those who fear him,

that glory dwelling in our land.

Mercy and truth shall meet;

Righteousness and peace shall kiss.

Truth shall spring out of the earth,

And righteousness shall look down from heaven.

Yes, the LORD shall give what is good;

And our land shall yield her increase.

Righteousness shall go before Him;

And shall set us in the way of His steps.

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

Do I recognize the LORD as the source of all justice and goodness in my world? Do I recognize Christ as this promise fulfilled?

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

This section of Psalm 85 has long been recognized as pointing to Christ through whom humanity is reconciled to the Father, restoring grace and peace.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

Almighty Father, source of all being, love itself, we come to You this day in recognition of your desires for us and for our wholeness and righteousness as your children, created in your image. You gave us your only-begotten Son to teach us and to lead us back and to reconcile us to You through his loving and selfless sacrifice upon the cross of Calvary. Send your Spirit to stir within us, to rouse our desires for life in abundance with You, through Christ and in the Spirit. Amen.
