Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: July 6,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   Matthew 9:18-26

While Jesus was speaking, an official came forward, paid him homage, and said, “My daughter has died, but if you come and lay your hand upon her, she shall live.”

Jesus rose and followed him as did his disciples. And behold, a woman who had suffered from hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him and touched the hem of his garment telling herself, “If I can touch his garment, I shall be whole.” But Jesus turned and saw her and said, “Daughter, be comforted, your faith has made you whole.” And the woman was healed from that moment.

When Jesus came into the official’s house and saw the people making a commotion, he said, “Go away. The girl is not dead but sleeping. And they laughed at him. But when the people were put out and he went in, he took the girl by the hand, and she rose. And the news of this spread across the region.

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

Do I bring my physical needs to Christ in faith with hope?

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

In today’s gospel reading, we see the power of faith at work: the faith of the official and the faith of the woman suffering. Both believed in Jesus’ power and authority and both were rewarded for their faith.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

Lord Jesus Christ, grant that my faith in You will be as strong as the official and the woman in today’s gospel. Amen.
