Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: June 1,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   2 Peter 1:2-7

Grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. According to his divine power, He has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who has called us to glory and virtue. Through these, He has bestowed on us the precious and great promises so that through them you may be partakers in the divine nature after escaping from the corruption that is in the world because of evil desire. 

For this reason, give all your diligence and add to your faith virtue, and to virtue add knowledge, and to knowledge self-control, and to self-control endurance, and to endurance godliness, and to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness charity.

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

In today’s first reading, Peter reminds us that the LORD has already provided everything we need for salvation and holiness. He follows this up with a most significant invitation to be “partakers in the divine nature.” Consider that! The LORD invites us to participate in the LORD’s divine design by allowing the LORD’s grace to transform us through the power of the Spirit and through our openness to the LORD’s love.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

LORD, I do believe. Help me to fully open my mind and heart to You and your will for me. Grant that I may come to know You through your Son, the very WORD of God expressed to us in the person of Jesus Christ. Send your Spirit to inform my mind, to conform my will, and to transform my being for your glory and for love of You. I ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Spirit, one LORD, forever and ever. Amen.
