LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   Matthew 8:1-4

When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds followed Him. A leper approached, paid Him homage, and said, “Lord, if you want, you can make me clean.”

He reached out His hand, touched him, and said, “I will. Be made clean.” And immediately, the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.

Jesus said to him, “See that you tell no one, but go on your way. Show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded as testimony to them.”

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

Do I come to Christ in faith, trusting His love and divine authority? Do I surrender to His will and power?

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

Today’s gospel reading recounts Jesus first healing miracle after the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus cures a leper who approaches in faith, open to the will of Christ.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God, my Savior, send the Spirit to tenderize my being so I am open to your will for me. Help me to discern your will and to embrace it joyfully. Amen.

CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
