Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: June 21,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   Matthew 10:26-33

Jesus said to the disciples, “Fear not for there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed and nothing hidden that shall not be made known. What I tell you in darkness, speak in the light. And what you hear, preach from the rooftops. Fear not those who would kill the body but are not able to kill the soul; rather, fear the one who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

“Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? But not a one of them falls to the ground without the Father knowing. The hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore, for you are more valuable than any sparrows.

“Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will acknowledge also before my Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies me before others, I will deny before my Father who is in heaven.”

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

How am I professing my belief in and love for Christ? Do my words and actions identify me as Christ’s?

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

In today’s gospel reading, Jesus teaches His followers the necessity of proclaiming Him to others even though persecution may come to the faithful.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

Almighty Father, we praise You for who You are and thank You most especially for the gift of your beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Our salvation comes from You through Him and in the Spirit. He chose us and appointed us to go forth boldly in love of Him and proclaim Him and His love to others through our words and actions. Send the Spirit to stir within us, to give us the courage to live as Christ’s disciples fully and to proclaim to others through our words and deeds the salvation won through Him. We ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Spirit, one LORD, forever and ever. Amen.

CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
