Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: June 25,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   Matthew 7:21-29

(Jesus said to his disciples,) “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only those who do the will of my Father in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name? Didn’t we drive out demons in your name? Didn’t we do mighty deeds in your name?’ Then I will solemnly tell them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you evil doers.’

“Whosoever listens to my words and acts on them is like a wise man who builds his house on rock. When the rain falls, the floods come, and the wind blows and buffets the house, it will not collapse because it has been set solidly on rock. But whosoever hears these words of mine and does not act on them is like a fool who builds his house on sand. When the rain falls, the floods come, the winds blow and buffet the house, it will collapse and be destroyed.”

When Jesus had finished his words, the crowds were astonished at his teaching because He taught them as one having authority and not like their scribes.

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

Do I act on Jesus’ words? Do I “obey” – hear His voice and act accordingly? Do I live as He calls me to live?

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

In today’s gospel reading from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, Jesus calls us to hear His voice and to obey actively in our lives. Jesus’ voice leads us to the will of the Father for us. Paramount to our life in Christ is just that, union with Him, opening ourselves to Him, remaining in Him and opening ourselves so He can remain in us.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

LORD, I do believe. Help my unbelief. Stir within me and dispel all doubt. Open me fully to your words and your will. Transform me as only your love can. Amen.

CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
