LECTIO - Read Scripture Text: Jeremiah 7:22-23
“When I delivered your ancestors out of Egypt, I did not give them commands concerning burnt offerings or sacrifice. But I commanded them saying, ‘Hear my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people; you shall walk in all ways that I have commanded you so that it you may prosper.’”
MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:
The LORD does not desire burnt offerings but rather a loving and reverent relationship with me. The LORD wants me to listen for His voice, to hear His will within His voice, to choose His will over mine.
ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:
Almighty Father, I humbly come to You, aware that without You I would not be. Send your Spirit to stir within in, to tenderize my heart and open my mind so that I can truly hear your voice and discern your will for me. Grant that I may walk in the footsteps of your Son, Jesus Christ, who listened for your voice, who chose your will over His own, and who shows us the way to You. I ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Spirit, one LORD, forever and ever. Amen.
CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
