LECTIO - Read Scripture Text: John 4:46-53
So, Jesus came again to Cana of Galilee where He made the water wine. There was a certain nobleman whose son was ill in Capernaum. When he heard that Jesus was in Galilee, he went to Him and begged Him to come down to heal his son who was at the point of death
Jesus said, “Unless you see signs and wonders, you will not believe.”
But the nobleman said to Him, “Sir, come down lest my child die.”
Jesus said to him, “Go on your way, your son lives.” And the man believed the word Jesus had spoken to him and went on his way when his servants met him and told him, “Your son lives.” The nobleman asked them the hour when the son improved. They told him it was the day before at the seventh hour when the fever left him. The father knew it was the same hour when Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” He and his whole house believed.
MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:
“He begged.” How persistent am I when asking the LORD for help?
“Go on your way.” Is my faith that strong that I trust Jesus’ word? Do I demand my answer “now”?
ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:
Almighty Father, I come to You this day knowing that your love for me and for all my sisters and brothers surpass our understanding. I come to You knowing that this love and desire for life for us led You to send your Son as our brother, our light, as “the way and the truth and the life.” Send your Spirit to tenderize our minds and hearts so that we might more fully welcome Him and turn to Him in our needs knowing of His love and compassion. We ask this in the name of Jesus, your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Spirit, one LORD, forever and ever. Amen.
CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
