LECTIO - Read Scripture Text: Philippians 2:6-11
Christ Jesus,
who being in the form of God,
did not regard equality with God
as something to be exploited,
but humbled himself
and took upon himself the form of a servant,
and was born in the likeness of men.
And being found in human form,
he humbled himself
and became obedient unto death,
even the death of the cross.
Therefore, God also has highly exalted him
and given him a name which is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus
every knee should bow
in heaven and on earth,
and under the earth
and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:
“servant” – Son of God – humbled himself – servant
“obedient unto death” – will of the Father for love of the Father – obedient – heard the Father’s voice – heard the father’s will – even to death – depth of love
“exalted” – above every name – “to he glory of God the Father”
ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:
Heavenly Father, You sent your only-begotten Son to us to take on our human nature in all ways except sin and to redeem us from our sins when we ourselves were unwilling and unable to do turn wholly back to You. Send your Spirit to rouse in us the loving humility of your beloved Son, our Savior, so that we might seek your will in our lives and listen for your voice as Jesus did. We ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Spirit, one LORD, forever and ever. Amen.
CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
