LECTIO - Read Scripture Text: Â 1 Peter 4:7-13
Take nothing for granted as the end of all things is at hand. Be vigilant in prayer. Above all, let your love for one another be fervent for love covers a multitude of sins. Be hospitable to one another ungrudgingly. As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s grace.
If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracle of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it with the ability God has given that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you as though some strange thing happened to you. Instead, rejoice to the extent that you partake in the sufferings of Christ, so that when His glory is revealed you may be glad with exceeding joy.
MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:
Â
BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:
In today’s first reading, Peter writes to us about sharing in Christ’s passion through our lives in this end time (between Christ’s ascension and His second coming). He calls us to be people of prayer, charity, and humble stewardship of the gifts we’ve been given.
Â
ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:
LORD, Jesus Christ, be with us as we strive to remain in You. Ask the Father to send the Spirit to stir within us so that our prayers may be without ceasing, our love may be without conditions, and our lives may be sent in loving and humble service to You. Be with us, Lord, as we seek to remain in You. Amen.
CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
