LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   John 14:21-26

“Whoever has my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me. Whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and make myself known to him.”

Judas, not the Iscariot, said to Him, “Master, how is it that You will reveal yourself to us and not to the world?”

Jesus answered and said to him, “If one loves me, he will keep my words, and my father will love him, and we will come to him and make our abode with him. He who does not love me does not keep my word. The word that you hear is not mine, but the Father who sent me. These things I have spoken to you while I am with you. But the Comforter who is the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name will teach you all things and remind you of all that I have told you.”

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

In today’s gospel reading, Jesus focuses on the indwelling of the Trinity (Father, Son and Spirit) in those who believe and keep Christ’s word/commands. Jesus also spells out for us the gift of the Spirit who will teach us and remind us of Christ’s word.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

Loving and gracious LORD, Father, Son, and Spirit, we lift our minds and hearts to You this day in praise and thanksgiving. With love, we ask that You abide with us, remain with us on our journeys of faith, buoyed by hope in your promise to be with us, and fueled by our love for You. Guide us and grace us, teach us and lead us. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
