Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: October 16,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   Ephesians 1:11-14

In Christ we have obtained an inheritance, destined in accord with the purpose of the One who accomplishes all things according to the intention of his will, that we might exist for the praise of his glory, we who first hoped in Christ. In him whom you also trusted after you  heard the word of truth, the Gospel of your salvation, and have believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit who is the first installment of our inheritance until the redemption as God’s possession, to the praise of his glory.

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

Does my life bring glory and praise to the LORD? Am I living the life I am called to live?

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

In today’s second reading, Paul explains to us the nature of our inheritance in Christ and the gift of the seal of the Holy Spirit. What our Heavenly Father will is our salvation and life in abundance. In Christ, we become partakers/inheritors of the promised treasure. Paul reminds us that after hearing the Gospel, the Truth, as believers we were marked by the Spirit in Baptism and Confirmation. The Holy Spirit is a “first installment”/down payment, of the full life of the faithful in the LORD.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

LORD, Almighty Father, You have a divine plan, knitting all things together according to your will in Christ. And as believers in Christ, we are sealed by the Holy Spirit and called to live for love of You and for your praise and glory. Help us to live this day and all days as with faith, hope and love. Grant that our lives, our choices, our words and deeds, our silences and still moments all show our love and bring You praise and glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
