Scripture Text: Psalm 100:1b-2, 3, 4, 5
R. (2) Come with joy into the presence of the Lord.
Sing joyfully to the LORD all you lands;
serve the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful song.
R. Come with joy into the presence of the Lord.
Know that the LORD is God;
he made us, his we are;
his people, the flock he tends.
R. Come with joy into the presence of the Lord.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
his courts with praise;
Give thanks to him; bless his name.
R. Come with joy into the presence of the Lord.
For he is good:
the LORD, whose kindness endures forever,
and his faithfulness, to all generations.
R. Come with joy into the presence of the Lord.
Breaking the text open – background and summary:
The responsorial psalm for today is one all believers should know for it reminds us who we should be in the presence of our LORD and of the LORD’s presence to us.
Meditating on the text with personal questions:
Do I act at all times as if I am conscious of being in the presence of the LORD? Do I consider myself a “servant of the LORD? Do I consider the LORD my loving shepherd?
Praying:
LORD, Almighty Father, Beloved Son, Most Holy Spirit, we lift our voices joyfully in praise of You for You are love itself and all goodness that is flows from You. We are only because of You. We are your people; You are our LORD. You are our Shepherd; we are your flock. Always and everywhere, You are, and it is in You that “we live and move and have our being.” Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
