NOTE: Beginning today, I will no longer be presenting readings from the day’s lectionary. Instead, I will be using Lectio Divina with small pieces or texts from our scripture. Lectio Divina is an ancient form of prayer using small scripture texts. It consists of our steps: Lectio involves reading the text; Meditatio involves meditating on the text and in that time of reflection allowing the LORD to touch us with His Word; Oratio involves bringing to prayer our needs, praise, confession, thanksgiving that rose up into our minds and hearts during the meditation; Contemplatio involves simply sitting in silence spending time thinking of and with the LORD.
LECTIO - Read Scripture Text: Psalm 121: 1-2
I lift up my eyes to the mountain. From where will my help come?
My help comes from the LORD, the maker of heaven and earth.
MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:
“lift up my eyes” – the LORD is above me. Who can I turn to when in need? My LORD, maker of heaven and earth, source of all being, my creator.
ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:
LORD, Almighty Father, Beloved Son, Most Holy Spirit, humbly I come to You realizing once again that I am only because of You and your awesome and life-giving love. Without You, I would not be; without You I cannot live. As I begin my day, stir within me, grace me, guide me, help me to unpack your gifts and share them with others for your glory. Grant that I may seek to do good for others, love You with my whole being and seek to love others, and daily to walk humbly with You. Amen.
CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
