Breaking the text open – background and summary:
The response to the 1st reading from the Book of Daniel is a section of the hymn of praise by Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from within the furnace where they’ve been thrown by King Nebuchadnezzar as punishment for the belief in the one true LORD.
Meditating on the text with personal questions:
During this week of Thanksgiving, how grateful am I to the LORD for the good that has been in my life? Do I think to praise the LORD even in difficult situations?
Praying:
LORD, be with me when I am struggling. Strengthen my resolve to remain faithful to You regardless of the situation or difficulties. Increase my hope. Open my mind and heart so that I might more fully grasp all for which I should praise You and speak your praise aloud. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
