Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: September 26,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text: Luke 9:43b-45
They were all amazed at His every deed. Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Heed what I am telling you, the Son of Man is to be handed over to men.” But they did not understand his words; its importance was hidden from them so that they did not understand it, and they were afraid to ask him about his words.
MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:
Do I ignore the parts of the Gospel that make me uncomfortable? The parts I cannot reconcile with what I want? The difficult truths?
BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:
Today’s gospel text recounts Jesus’ second prediction of his passion and death, but his followers could not comprehend how one who could work such miracles could be vulnerable to such suffering.
ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:
LORD, I come to You humbly, acknowledging your power and might and my own vulnerabilities. I come in awe of You and in fear of what I cannot understand or control. Send your Spirit to stir within my mind and heart and rouse within me a total loving trust in You and your ways. Grant that I may have the courage to bring my confusion, my doubts, my fears to You. Forgive me for those times when I have ignored Your truth and Your Way because opening myself to it was too hard. Help me, LORD, to discern your will and embrace it fully. Amen.
CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
