Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: September 27,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text: Matthew 21:28-32
Jesus said to the chief priests and elders of the people: “What do you think? A man had two sons. He came to the first and said, ‘Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.’ He replied, “I will not.” But afterwards changed his mind and went out. The man came to the other son and gave him the same order. He replied, ‘Yes, sir,’ but he did not go. Which of the two sons did his father’s bidding?” They answered, “The first”
Jesus said to them, “Truly, I tell you, tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you. When John came to you righteously, you did not believe him. But tax collectors and prostitutes did. Yet even when you realized it, you did not later change your minds and believe him.”
MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:
Does my “yes” to the LORD always mean “yes”? Am I self-righteously and foolishly discounting and ignoring my LORD’s call to conversion?
BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:
In today’s Gospel text, Jesus challenges not just the chief priests and elders but all believers to look honestly at their own responses to the LORD’s call to do His will.
ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:
LORD, help me to respond to your love and your call honestly and with all humility. Send your Spirit to open my heart fully to your love and my mind to your calls. Change my heart, LORD, I open it to You. Amen.
CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
