Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: September 29,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text: John 1:47-51
Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and he said, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no guile.”
Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, you were standing under the fig tree. I saw you.” Nathanael answered and said to him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God, you are the King of Israel.”
Jesus responded and said to him, “Because I told you I saw you under the fig tree, you believe? You shall see greater things than these.” And he added, “Truly, I say to you, in the future, you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.”
MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:
Do I recognize Christ when I encounter Him in the world today?
BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:
Today’s gospel text recounts Philip’s first encounter with Jesus. His skepticism I erased when Jesus reveals his divine omniscience to Philip and then identifies himself as the true bridge between heaven and earth.
ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:
LORD, you know me. You can read my mind, my heart, my soul. Send the Spirit to open my eyes, my mind, and my heart more fully to You. In your holy name, Jesus Christ, I pray.
CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
