LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   1 Corinthians 4:1-5

Let us be regarded as ministers of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Of course, it is required of stewards to be found faithful. To me, it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or any man. I don’t even judge my own self. For I know nothing of myself, yet am I not justified? But He who judges me is the Lord. Therefore, judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts. Then shall every man have praise of God.

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

Do I leave the “judging” to God?

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

In today’s reading from his 1st Letter to the Corinthians, Paul emphasizes the proper mindset of leadership within faith communities as humble servants and stewards. Paul also warns us against rash judgments and criticism, reminding us that justification and judgment belong to God alone.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

Heavenly and all-loving Father, help me to live in a manner worthy of my call, faithful to You and to your beloved Son, as the child You created me to be and the disciple He calls me to be. Send your Spirit to open my mind and heart to your divine will. Help me to accept my responsibilities and to trust in You. Guard my mind and heart from judging others, for judgment belongs to You alone. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
