Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: September 6,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text: Romans 13:8-10
Owe no one anything except to love one another. He who loves another has fulfilled the law. “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not kill,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and any other commandment all come down to “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love works no ill toward a neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law.
MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:
How well am I “loving”? Am I keeping the “letter of the law” but violating the “heart of the law”?
BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:
Paul tells the Romans and us today that we are to be concerned about loving one another. Doing this abides by and exceeds all the commandments. Love fulfills the law – all the laws.
ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:
Loving and gracious Lord, You are love itself, the source of all being, the source of all love. You created us in love, with love to love. You call us to love You and to love one another. Your covenant is one of love. Send your Spirit to stir within me and increase the love You wove within my being. Grant that I may allow your love to be the fuel for my journey, the fuel for my life, the fuel for my day. Replace my selfish impulses with loving kindness and an authentic desire to live as your created me to live and call me to live. Amen.
CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
